Opposition has surrounded the rostrum again

Opposition has surrounded the speaker's rostrum in Ukraine's parliament, demanding personal voting and to put touch buttons into operation.

On today's parliamentary sitting, MPs were to consider draft Resolutions on book publishing industry, ecology and agriculture. Yet, MPs haven't considered any issue, because the speaker's rostrum was again surrounded by the opposition.

Today, the Parliamentary assembly hall is strung with banners "The Rada Rots from Rybak" and "Say no to Button-Pushers!". Opposition representatives don't think that legislative activities of the Verkhovna Rada are reasonable until their demand to vote personally using touch buttons is satisfied. "All the excuses of the parliamentary majority that, allegedly, this voting system became obsolete after 10 years – is just delay tactics used to solve personal problems. The party in power is afraid of voting personally, but our intentions are definite and determined", – said the Head of the All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda Oleh Tiahnybok.

Arsenii Yatseniuk showed journalists the Law of Ukraine On Amendments to regulations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: "This document, which was signed by the President on December 6, regulates the personal voting". Leader of the All-Ukrainian Union Fatherland emphasized that if touch button voting system will not be activated, the opposition is ready to vote with hands.

The VRU Head Volodymyr Rybak stated that it's impossible to continue parliamentary activities because the opposition surrounded the speaker's rostrum. He has also added that only 2 MPs are absent today due to the illness. Mr. Rybak explained actions of the opposition as a political issue, which hinders the conduction of sitting. Concerning his resignation demanded by the minority, Mr. Rybak said that he will accept any decision of the Parliament.
